2021

[EN] Devices based on software defined radio have been used in the last 6 years as motivating elements in the laboratory practices of digital communications courses at the Degree in Telematics Engineering of the University of Valencia. However, the development of these practices requires giving access to some hardware devices that are physically located in the laboratories of the School of Engineering. In this contribution, taking into account the current situation of hybrid learning and a possible transition to remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a system that allows the remote interaction with the software defined radio devices is proposed. This remote access system, in addition t…

Comunicació 2.0 i gènere

2009

What a Friend We Have in Facebook : Norwegian Christian Churches’ Use of Social Media

2021

This study examines how Christian churches in Norway use social media. The key finding is that the churches do not take extensive advantage of the opportunities for two-way communication offered by the platforms, but primarily use their social media channels to promote church activities or broadcast content without inviting a dialogue. Based on the churches’ own stated appreciation for building relationships, as well as existing research from media and communication studies, media and religion studies, and studies within strategic communication, this article argues for a stronger focus on the ritual and relational aspects of online communication from the church organizations.

Learner identity in EFL: An analysis of digital texts of identity in higher education

2018

This study explores learner identity (LI) in digital texts of identity (DTI) produced by college learners in English as a foreign language (EFL). In so doing, it aims to shed light on learners’ connections of their learning experiences across time and settings, and their impact on the various learner identities that form their LI. It also intends to elucidate how learners construct powerful learner identities in and through their digital discourses. To this end, 51 DTI were collected and scrutinized, following studies on LI, critical and poststructuralist discourse analysis, and “thematic” and “dialogic/performative” analysis within narrative research. Learners established connections betwe…

Cosa dire e come dirlo

2017

Conflict resolution always follows the same pattern, whether on an interpersonal or social level or between cities. This paper aims at illustrating the general patterns and at identifying some means of communication with the parties, both in terms of content and in terms of relationship. Regarding the content of the mediation, the following issues will be adressed: the reasons for the resolution, the appeal to a positive relationship between the parties and the mediator himself, the appeal to ‘collaborative individualism’, and the construction of a deep bond between the parties. Concerning relationships, the following issues will be discussed: the importance of a respectful attitude, the ro…

The soundslide report : innovative journalism or misplaced works of art?

Published version of an article in the journal: Nordicom Review. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.2478/nor-2014-0007 Open Access The audio slideshow-or soundslide report-represents a new format for journalistic reporting on online news sites. The article offers an illustration and discussion of these potentials, asking how the format communicates and how it affects journalism in general. Starting out with a close reading of a sample text and a discussion of the format's position in a network of g…

2015

This article examines the politicization processes of ordinary digital practices as well as its role in the constitution of new protester groups. Its interest is also represented by the construction of an original theoretical framework aiming to underline the complementarity between different theoretical perspectives. By encouraging a connection between the sociology of social movements, the critical Theory and the studies of “information practices”, the author elaborates a new approach to mobilisation focused on the emergence of a more and more citizen's engaged position with regard to the “information world” and not only based on militant uses of the media. While claiming a critical appro…
